Help: icmp pinger processes more than 75% busy - zabbix_server.conf doesn`t work

    Hi,

My server shows Zabbix icmp pinger processes more than 75% busy.
I tried changing zabbix_server.conf (current number of pingers is set to 1000)
but log shows, that only one is running.

    Code:

Can anyone help me? How can I make zabbix use the config file when starting?

    My config setting:

    Code:
    ### Option: StartPingers
    #	Number of pre-forked instances of ICMP pingers.
    #
    # Mandatory: no
    # Range: 0-1000
    # Default:
    # StartPingers=1000
    Best regards
    Simon

Well, you certainly do not want to have 1000 ICMP pingers running!! But for any parameter to work, you have to remove the # in front of the parameter.

I always leave the default listed as is, so I know what they were to begin with. Make yours look like this, then restart your zabbix server process.

    ### Option: StartPingers
    # Number of pre-forked instances of ICMP pingers.
    #
    # Mandatory: no
    # Range: 0-1000
    # Default:
    # StartPingers=1
    StartPingers=4

        tchjts1,

Thank you for the suggestion, fixed my server and issue resolved. Set to 400. Is there a reason 1000 pingers is bad? too much load on the server?
